Our History

Edward Wilkins (the firm's founder) with his son and successor Stanley in the middle and previous senior Partner Henry Edwards to the right.

The firm of Wilkins was founded in Aylesbury around 1899 by Edward Wilkins.  The office was originally a branch of an established  High Wycombe firm but quickly grew into an independent practice.  The firm expanded  in  line with the rapid growth of Aylesbury.  By the early post-war years, it came to rank as one of the three principal practices in the town.

The long history of the firm in Aylesbury means that it has acquired a very substantial client base during this period, particularly with regard to property matters, probate, wills and trusts.  However, during more recent years, there has been substantial expansion into the fields of personal injury work, employment law and civil and criminal litigation.    We now have one of the largest criminal practices in Aylesbury.

At an earlier stage, the practice also maintained offices in Thame, Oxfordshire and Tring, Hertfordshire.  However, the firm's activities are now concentrated within two offices  in Aylesbury, although clients continue to be served in a considerably wider area.

The firm used to be located at the sight of the new Aylesbury Theatre, but had to move to make way for this important development.

In March 2006 the firm moved to its current locations at Lincoln House the head office and at Partnership House on Aylesbury High Street.   The offices deal with different types of work with non contentious work (that is broadly conveyancing, probate, wills and trust work) being dealt with at our High Street office and litigation such as famly work, personal injury work, other civil work and criminal work being dealt with in our Head Office.  It is now one of the principal firms in the town.

On 1st June 2010, Wilkins converted to a limited liability partnership Wilkins Solicitors LLP trading as Wilkins Solicitors.
